How Stress effects the BRAIN

 

If you put enough demand on a person, they will collapse either mentally, emotionally or physically.

We are all impacted by stress in different ways, but these signs include:

* Being accident prone

* Feeling argumentative and snappy

* A tendency to work late and not take breaks

* A loss of sense of humour, replaced by irritability

*Losing pride in one’s appearance

* A tendency to suffer from headaches, nausea, aches and pains, tiredness and poor sleeping patterns

* Needing time off work

* A problem with drinking, smoking, overeating/under eating or taking drugs (even prescription drugs)

* Becoming depressed and withdrawn

Now I would like you to imagine a bridge.  Then imagine driving lots of double decker buses, lorries, ships and cars onto the bridge, then flying helicopters and aeroplanes on top of these until it is completely covered and the weight is causing the bridge to buckle.  Eventually it will collapse under all this load. Now the bridge is giving us clues that it’s not coping and before it collapses we have a couple of choices to prevent it from collapsing

1. We can remove some of the load, and/or

2. We can give the bridge some additional support, maybe by using concrete blocks or iron girders to increase the structural integrity of the bridge so it is better equipped to cope with the load
